Most buyers use "curb appeal" as a tool to assess how well the house has been maintained on the inside. On the other hand, consider the house that is beautifully landscaped. At least one survey of realtors shows that trees play a role in determining property value and that their presence or absence can affect a home's desirability to buyers.

HINT: Trees planted at a cost of hundreds of dollars when you first move into a home may come to be worth thousands of dollars when the home is eventually sold.
