There is an old saying that a "rising tide lifts all ships." In terms of real estate, rising home values in past years have benefited nearly all homeowners across the board. Now that the market has undergone a correction, homeowners may be reluctant to make a move. However, unless you are making a move to a vastly different market, you are still in the same boat as everyone else - even though you may be selling your home for less than you might have a year or so ago, you will be purchasing a home in the same market for less money than it would have taken a year or so ago.
